Spring 2013 Provost Events All New York-based faculty members are invited to attend conferences, luncheons, and networking receptions hosted by NYIT Provost Rahmat Shoureshi, including:
- Provost/Faculty Conference Thursday, Feb. 7 in Manhattan (16 W. 61st St., 11th floor auditorium), 12:30-1:50 p.m. Lunch will be served. R.S.V.P. for the conference.
- Provost Discovery Luncheon: Tuesday, March 26 in Old Westbury (Riland Auditorium, event will be streamed to NYIT Auditorium on Broadway) and Thursday, March 28 in Manhattan (NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, event will be streamed to Rockefeller Auditorium), 12:30-1:50 p.m. on both days.
- Faculty Networking Wine and Cheese Reception: Thursday, April 18 in Manhattan (16 W. 61st St., 11th floor auditorium), 3:30-5 p.m.
TIAA-CREF Appointments A TIAA-CREF representative will be visiting NYIT's New York campuses during the spring 2013 semester to provide personal investment and retirement counseling for program participants. Baseball Fundraiser and Book Signing The NYIT baseball team will host a fundraiser featuring New York Yankees special advisor Ray Negron, who played baseball for the Bears in the mid-1970s, on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 6:30 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion. Tickets cost $75 for NYIT faculty and staff members and include dinner, an open bar, a raffle and silent auction, and a presentation by Negron, who will also sign copies of his book, Yankee Miracles.
Prep Course - Certified Energy Manager Exam The NYIT School of Engineering and Computing Sciences and the Long Island chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers will provide a five-day preparation course for the Certified Energy Manager exam, Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22 at the Old Westbury campus. Free Yoga NYIT Athletics invites all faculty and staff members to attend free evening yoga classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. in the Bears Den, Old Westbury campus. Film Independent Spirit Awards There are only two more days to attend the Spirit Awards at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, through Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 1871 Broadway (between 61st and 62nd Streets), Manhattan campus. Call for RFPs: Classrooms Design Challenge Participate in a challenge to design a student-centered classroom that supports active, collaborative teaching and learning. Safety Conference NYIT will host this year’s American Society of Safety Engineers Professional Development Conference on Wednesday, March 20, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in Salten Hall, Old Westbury campus. 3rd Annual Relay for Lunch Help support NYIT's Relay for Life and the Student Government Association to raise much-needed funds toward their $50K goal on Thursday, April 4, 12:30 p.m. in the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. The buffet luncheon is donated by NYIT Dining Services. Cost is a $25 minimum donation. Payments will be accepted at the door; make checks payable to the American Cancer Society.
