Call for Submissions: "Face to Face" NYIT Gallery 61 invites all NYIT faculty and staff members to participate in the "Face to Face" exhibition of portraits, which can be in any medium on paper and fit into a mat opening size of 11 x 14. The deadline for art is Wednesday, Jan. 30. The exhibition is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 7 to Thursday, March 7.
Literary Event NYIT faculty and staff members will read from recent work on Thursday, Jan. 31, 6 p.m. at the Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia St., New York City. Participants include professors Susana Case, Gary Stephens and Anthony DiMatteo, librarian Danielle Apfelbaum, and adjunct faculty members Terese Coe, Debora Kuan, Anita Michaels and Doris Umbers. Cost is $8 (includes drinks).
Film Independent Spirit Awards View Oscar-nominated films on the lineup of the Spirit Awards at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, through Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 1871 Broadway (between 61st and 62nd Streets), Manhattan campus. Cast Iron Chef NYIT's next Cast Iron Chef competition has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21, 3:30-6 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Faculty and staff members interested in competing should submit an application by Monday, Jan. 28. Cost is $10 for members of the NYIT community; $25 per guest. TIAA-CREF Appointments A TIAA-CREF representative will be visiting NYIT's New York campuses during the spring 2013 semester to provide personal investment and retirement counseling for program participants. - Provost/Faculty Conference: Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Old Westbury (Rockefeller Auditorium) and Thursday, Feb. 7 in Manhattan (16 W. 61st St., 11th floor auditorium), 12:30-1:50 p.m. on both days. Lunch will be served. R.S.V.P. for the conference.
- Provost Discovery Luncheon: Tuesday, March 26 in Old Westbury (Riland Auditorium, event will be streamed to NYIT Auditorium on Broadway) and Thursday, March 28 in Manhattan (NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, event will be streamed to Rockefeller Auditorium), 12:30-1:50 p.m. on both days.

Baseball Fundraiser and Book Signing The NYIT baseball team will host a fundraiser featuring New York Yankees special advisor Ray Negron, who played baseball for the Bears in the mid-1970s, on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 6:30 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion. Tickets cost $75 for NYIT faculty and staff members and include dinner, an open bar, a raffle and silent auction, and a presentation by Negron, who will also sign copies of his book, Yankee Miracles.
Presentation by Utile Design Architects Tim Love and Matthew Littell, principals of Utile Design Architects, will give a presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 6:30 p.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. Call for RFPs: Classrooms Design Challenge Participate in a challenge to design a student-centered classroom that supports active, collaborative teaching and learning. The winning proposal will be implemented in fall 2013. Proposals are due by Tuesday, April 30.
