Coat Drive The Office of Housing and Residential Life at NYIT-Manhattan is collecting new and gently used coats through Monday, Dec. 31 as part of the 24th Annual New York Cares Coat Drive. Drop off a coat in the bin in the lobby of the Edward Guiliano Global Center at 1855 Broadway or bring it to the resident assistant offices at the Riverside or Manhattan School of Music Residence Halls.

"Community Collaborations: Africa, Costa Rica, and Peru" Attend the opening reception of a photography show featuring images of NYIT's global community outreach on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5-7 p.m. at NYIT Gallery 61, 16 W. 61st St., 11th floor, Manhattan campus. The reception will feature an art benefit to raise funds for medical equipment and supplies for the Hawa Memorial Savious Hospital in Osiem, Ghana. The show is on view through Thursday, Jan. 31.

Romare Bearden Exhibition and Discussion Attend an evening of discussion moderated by Ann Aptaker (firstname.lastname@example.org), adjunct professor of art history, on the works of master collagist Romare Bearden, Thursday, Dec. 13, 6-8 p.m. at ACA Galleries, 529 W. 20th St., 5th floor, New York City. The discussion will be held in tandem with the exhibition, "Romare Bearden: Urban Rhythms and Dreams of Paradise." Panelists include Myron Schwartzman, author of Romare Bearden: His Life and Works; Russell Goings, poet and Bearden's longtime friend; and Andre Thibault-Teabo, Bearden's assistant and creative associate.
