Free Flick NYIT's Department of Communication Arts presents free films from the 1950s. View On the Waterfront, today at 5:30 p.m., NYIT de Seversky Mansion, room 102 (The Soundstage). Refreshments will be served.

Provost/Faculty Conference Join NYIT Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Rahmat Shoureshi, Ph.D., for a fall 2012 conference recognizing faculty scholarship and creative activities, on Thursday, Oct. 11, 12:45-2:10 p.m. at Rockefeller Auditorium, Old Westbury campus.

PINK Everywhere NYIT-Manhattan Wear pink and help to raise awareness of breast cancer on Thursday, Oct. 11. There will be an informational table about the event in the lobby of 26 W. 61st St.

Archtober Join NYIT's School of Architecture and Design for events celebrating the architecture of New York City in October, including:

Benjamin J. Cecil 5K Walk for Independence Join NYIT's Vocational Independence Program (VIP) for a walk to support a scholarship fund in memory of student Benjamin J. Cecil on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Independence Hall, 300 Carleton Ave., Central Islip, N.Y. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 9 a.m. The walk starts at 10 a.m., with a 5K path that is handicapped accessible. Refreshments will be served during the walk. American Culture Club Meetings are scheduled for Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT, Building 1, room 207, Nanjing campus. The next one is Oct. 15. Read a lineup of events.

Book Presentation NYIT-Nanjing Dean and Executive Director Monique Taylor, Ph.D., will discuss her book, Harlem Between Heaven and Hell, on Thursday, Oct. 18, 6:30- 7:45 p.m. at the NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture, Nanjing campus.

Journey of 1,000 Steps View an exhibition featuring the work of Michelle Posner-Stylianou, teacher/counselor for NYIT's Vocational Independence Program, and her husband, Stelios, on Friday, Oct. 19, 6-8 p.m. at The Knox School Solarium Gallery, 541 Long Beach Road, St. James, N.Y. Breast Cancer Walk Join the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. in Central Park, New York City. The event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Faculty and staff are invited to join Team NYIT. Sign up online.

TIAA-CREF Appointments A TIAA-CREF representative will be visiting NYIT's New York campuses during the fall 2012 semester to provide personal investment and retirement counseling for program participants. Frank Sinatra Tribute Dinner Enjoy an evening of dinner and music in classic Frank Sinatra style on Thursday, Nov. 1, 6-9 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Cost is $120 per person, plus tax and 20 percent service charge. The five-course menu offers Sinatra's favorite meals inspired by Patsy's Italian restaurant. After dinner, meet Chef Sal Scognamillo from Patsy's and receive a copy of his signed cookbook. Music will be played by George Pettignano. For reservations, call 516.686.7675.
