The achievements of NYIT's 3,215 graduates from throughout America and more than 75 countries were celebrated at the 52nd annual commencement ceremony on May 19 in Old Westbury, N.Y.
In his speech to the Class of 2013, President Guiliano said: "No one moves in a straight line in a network; you move from one node to the next. You turn corners and often find surprises. Wrong turns can lead to the right endings. The more connections you have, the more paths open up and the richer your life becomes. NYIT has given you a wealth of these connections."
During the ceremony, President Guiliano awarded honorary degrees to Ernie Anastos (pictured top left), WNYW FOX 5 News anchor; Otis Webb Brawley, M.D., chief medical/scientific officer and executive vice president of the American Cancer Society; Peter A. Ferentinos (pictured top right), CEO of Qualco Inc. and several other national companies, and the longest-standing member of NYIT’s board of trustees; and Yang Zhen, Ph.D., president of an NYIT partner institution in China, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
