Cathy Bernard, Ph.D. (cbernard@nyit.edu), associate professor of English, published a letter to the editor on April 7 in The New York Times. Her letter responded to an article about automated essay scoring. Read more.

Amy Bravo (abravo@nyit.edu), assistant dean of career services; Adrienne McNally (amcnally@nyit.edu), associate director of experiential education; and Rosalia Mannino (rmanni01@nyit.edu), assistant director of experiential education, won second place for their entry, "Internship Certificate Program," in the category for best practices in career development from the Metropolitan New York College Career Planning Officer's Association's Alva C. Cooper Committee.

Susana H. Case, Ph.D. (shcase@nyit.edu), professor and coordinator for behavioral sciences at NYIT-Manhattan, wrote a column for She Writes blog on finding outlets for publication.

She also was profiled in Daniel Sherrier Books and her book, Elvis Presley's Hips & Mick Jagger's Lips, was reviewed on the Sundog Lit blog. Three poems from her book were featured in Extract(s) blog.

James Henry Dunne, J.D. (jdunne@nyit.edu), assistant professor of hospitality management, organized an educational tour of The Inn at Fox Hollow on March 28 for students in the NYIT-Old Westbury Society of Hosteurs. At the luxury hotel and wedding facility in Woodbury, N.Y., they learned about event planning and catering from industry professionals.

Leonard B. Goldstein, D.D.S., Ph.D. (lbgoldst@nyit.edu), director of clerkship education for the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine, Sina Menashehoff (D.O. '10), and Rene Hildebrand, D.O., published the manuscript, "The Use of Botulinum Toxin in Migraines: A Review," in the April 2013 issue of Practical Pain Management.

Susan Neville, Ph.D., R.N. (sneville@nyit.edu), chair and associate professor of the Department of Nursing, was quoted in the article, "What Patients Really Want," on nursezone.com and in the cover story, "Modern Families," on nurse.com (PDF download, p. 11).

Ernst O. VanBergeijk, Ph.D. (evanberg@nyit.edu), associate dean, and executive director of the NYIT Vocational Independence Program, had his article, "Summer Bridge Programs: Opportunities to Maximize Transition Success," featured on the front page of the spring 2013 issue of Autism Spectrum News.

Jason Van Nest (jvannest@nyit.edu), assistant professor of architecture, was elected on April 11 as president of the MacDowell Colony's Fellows Executive Committee. MacDowell Colony is a leading artist colony in the United States. He is the first licensed architect to serve in this position. Read more.
