Nada Anid, Ph.D. (nanid@nyit.edu), dean of the NYIT School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, served as an invited speaker at "A Salute to Women in STEM," March 8 at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City, N.Y.

Danielle Apfelbaum (dapfelba@nyit.edu), librarian I at Wisser Library, participated in the panel presentation, "Stranger in a Strange Land? The Poet in the Composition Classroom," on March 8 at the Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference in Boston. In discussing methods to enhance writing across the genres, she highlighted ways in which poets might draw on their talents and skills to reinforce information literacy in the composition classroom.

Susana H. Case, Ph.D. (shcase@nyit.edu), professor and coordinator for behavioral sciences at NYIT-Manhattan, attended the 2013 Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference, March 6-9 in Boston. She participated in author readings and served as a panelist for "The Chapbook as Gateway."

Terese Coe (tcoe@nyit.edu), has published "To Guy Pacate," a rhymed dimeter translation from the French poetry of Pierre de Ronsard, in The Warwick Review, a United Kingdom publication.

Shiang-Kwei Wang, Ph.D. (skwang@nyit.edu), associate professor of instructional technology, Hui-Yin Hsu, Ph.D. (hhsu02@nyit.edu), associate professor of teacher education, and School of Education graduate students, John Gienau and Edward Powers, presented two papers on March 2 at the 2013 Hudson Valley (N.Y.) Conference hosted by the New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education. They include "Using Mobile Devices to Conduct Water Quality Research" and "Using Cyber Databases and Google Earth to Conduct Inquiry in Learning Evolution Theory."
