Accomplishments

Rosalia Davi (rdavi@nyit.edu), assistant director of experiential education for NYIT Career Services, received the 2014 New Professional Recognition Award from the Long Island Council of Student Personnel Administrators on Feb. 7 at the group's 32nd annual conference in Garden City, N.Y. The award recognizes her commitment and professional contributions to improve her department, campus, and university. Davi is pictured at right holding her award next to her supervisor and nominator Adrienne McNally (amcnally@nyit.edu), associate director of experiential education.

Francy Magee (fmagee@nyit.edu), dean for campus life at NYIT-Old Westbury, successfully earned her Ed.D. from Columbia University's Teachers College earlier in February. Her dissertation, "How Faculty at Undergraduate Institutions Incorporate Undergraduate Research in Their Work Lives," involved interviews with 43 faculty members from four undergraduate colleges.

Claude Gagna, Ph.D. (cgagna@nyit.edu), associate professor of life sciences, participated in the 29th Long Island Science and Engineering Fair on Feb. 10 in Woodbury, N.Y.

Ernst O. VanBergeijk, Ph.D. (evanberg@nyit.edu), associate dean and executive director of the NYIT Vocational Independence Program, served as an invited speaker for Career Mentoring Day on Feb. 12 hosted by Columbia University's School of Social Work.
