Meet Bob Malvagna Bob Malvagna was named NYIT's head baseball coach in July 2012. In addition to his 20 years of experience coaching Long Island collegiate and club teams, he was a member of the St. John's University baseball team from 1975 to 1979, and played with New York Mets Major Leaguers John Franco and Frank Viola. ...more

Thomas Scandalis, D.O., Honored at White Coat Ceremony NYIT's white coat ceremony on July 18 marked a new educational phase for 284 students entering their third year at the College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM), as they transition from the classroom to clinical rotations in hospitals. Alumni helped the physicians-in-training into their white coats during a ceremony that honored one of their own—Thomas Scandalis (D.O. '87, pictured with a student), former dean of NYCOM. He will serve as chair of NYIT's new Department of Sports Medicine and director of the new Center for Sports Medicine and Performance Sciences. ...more

Team NYIT Starts Construction of Recycling Center

Team NYIT Starts Construction of Recycling Center NYIT architects and engineers led by Assistant Professor of Architecture Tobias Holler are building a recycling center this month in Nosara, Costa Rica. They arrived in Costa Rica on June 30 and have already constructed some of the facility. The project began as a design contest among NYIT student teams in fall 2011. Since then, Holler and his team have raised $21,350 on kickstarter.com to fund their efforts. They are blogging about their activities in Costa Rica. ...more
