Meet James Wyckoff

Teaching students about using communications to help nonprofits and entrepreneurs is the premise of James Wyckoff's advertising workshop/production house class at NYIT. The latest class endeavor of the adjunct assistant professor of communication arts pairs students with pro-bono client Hospital St. Raphael in Limbe, Haiti, where the NYIT Center for Global Health is assisting residents still reeling from the repercussions of a 2010 earthquake and recent torrential rains from tropical storm Isaac.

Save the Date: NYIT 21st-Century Leaders Speaker Series Lady Barbara Judge, CBE, will deliver the lecture, "Nuclear Energy after Fukushima: Policies, Practices, and Problems," on Thursday, Sept. 27, 6:30 p.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway in Manhattan. She is chairman of the Pension Protection Fund in the United Kingdom and chairman emeritus of the U.K. Atomic Energy Authority as well as a member of the NYIT Board of Trustees. Visit the studio of Yuko Oda, associate professor of fine arts, on Saturday, Sept. 8 or Sunday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. as part of GO Brooklyn Art, an initiative of the Brooklyn Museum. This weekend, more than 2,000 artists based in the New York borough, including Oda, will open their studios to the community.

Chinese Education Delegates Visit NYIT

NYIT hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Education (MoE) of China, led by Senior Counselor Madame Wang Liying, at the Manhattan campus on Aug. 31. Five additional MoE representatives from the central Chinese ministry in Beijing and four members of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in New York joined NYIT President Guiliano, administration, and faculty to discuss the administration of higher education institutions, the selection of university presidents, and related topics.
