NYIT Honored for Product and Service Marketing Congratulations to the Office of Publications and Advertising on earning a Grand Award in the category of product and service marketing for the NYIT Research video. The university was one of 12 international organizations to earn top honors in their respective categories as part of the 2012 International GALAXY Awards. NYIT also garnered bronze for a media kit made for the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway in the category of promotion: new product introduction and honors for the same piece in the category of brochures: special purpose. ...more

NYIT Architects Raise Funds to Finish Costa Rica Recycling Center NYIT architecture students and faculty members led by Assistant Professor Tobias Holler are planning to return to Costa Rica in January 2013 to finish construction of a recycling and education center designed by them last year. View Instructional Technology Resources NYIT's Senate Educational Technology committee has compiled a set of instructional technology resources to help faculty members and students make up for lost instructional time caused by Hurricane Sandy and a recent Nor'easter affecting the New York metro area. These technologies can be used with students to have discussions, deliver content, and facilitate interaction when access to a classroom is not possible. Each one has been used by a faculty member for instructional purposes, and the names of faculty and staff members who are willing to support initial attempts at learning these technologies are provided. ...more

NYIT Recognizes Employee Service Milestones On Nov. 15, NYIT held a luncheon and awards ceremony at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion to recognize employees who have achieved important milestones in their years of service at the university. A total of 170 employees from Manhattan, Old Westbury, and Central Islip were honored. Nearly 60 were recognized for five years of service; others were recognized for successive five-year increments up to and including one employee celebrating 45 years of service. ...more

Exhibition Designed by NYIT Professor Prepares for 2013 Tour An exhibition that has drawn more than 60,000 visitors and garnered press on multiple continents will tour Italy and France in 2013, according to New York Institute of Technology Assistant Professor Charles Matz. He is the architect, media producer, and master planner for "Through My Window" (known as "De Ma Fenêtre" in France), an exhibition of digital C prints and watercolor photographs by the Korean artist Ahae on view this past summer at the Jardin des Tuileries at the Musée du Louvre in Paris. Matz designed a freestanding pavilion structure for the exhibition. ...more

Call for Submissions - NYIT Faculty/Staff Exhibit “Face to Face” at Gallery 61

NYIT Faculty/staff exhibition "Face to Face" at NYIT Gallery 61
Deadline for accepting work is Jan. 8, 2013.

Gallery 61 invites all NYIT faculty and staff to participate in this exhibition of portraits, which can be in any medium on paper and fit into a mat opening size of 11 x 14". Do not frame or mat your pieces. Gallery 61 will be responsible for the proper presentation of the work.

Each piece must be titled on the back and, if possible, use two words that describe the interests of the person/subject you have selected to portray.

If you are submitting a photograph, make sure that the image is clear. You are responsible for printing the image yourself.

Please bring your work to Jennifer Mitchell's office, room 1111 in the EGGC, 855 Broadway, Manhattan campus.

The exhibition dates are January 24 - February 21, 2013.

NYIT Volunteers Occupy Sandy in Brooklyn and Far Rockaway On Nov. 10, nine NYIT students, two guests, and two staff members met in Sunset Park Brooklyn at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church, one of several Occupy Sandy relief hubs located throughout New York City. Students and staff registered with the volunteer group and participated in a brief orientation program. Several students opted to stay at the church to help with Occupy Sandy efforts by sorting and organizing much-needed goods to be sent to affected families, while others traveled to Far Rockaway to help with recovery efforts in the beach community. ...more
