NYIT Establishes Admissions Advisory Board The Office of Admissions has created an Admissions Advisory Board to encourage collaboration among NYIT admissions counselors and high school guidance counselors. The board's purpose is to share ideas on current educational trends, better address students' needs during the college admissions process, and to help students transition to college. The first meeting on Dec. 10 in Old Westbury, N.Y., discussed the academic needs of students, effectiveness of various admissions events, top questions and concerns from students, and much more. The founding members of the NYIT Admissions Advisory Board represent high schools in Long Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. ...more

Attend an Art Benefit Hosted by the NYIT Center for Global Health In the true meaning of the holiday season, NYIT's Center for Global Health is sponsoring a benefit exhibit of African images as part of the photography show, "Community Collaborations: Africa, Costa Rica, and Peru." The opening reception for the benefit, which will raise funds for medical equipment/supplies for the Hawa Memorial Savious Hospital in Osiem, Ghana, is Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5-7 p.m. at NYIT Gallery 61, 16 W. 61st St., 11th floor, Manhattan campus. The framed and signed images of Africa are priced at $50 for an 8x10-inch size, $150 for an 11x14-inch size, and $300 for a 20x30-inch size. ...more

NYIT Renames Medical School Join NYIT on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the kickoff event for the renaming of its medical school as the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine at 3 p.m. outside of the Rockefeller Building in Old Westbury, N.Y. All faculty, staff members, and students are invited to a sign dedication ceremony. Effective Jan. 1, the new name replaces the 35-year-old college’s former name, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, commonly known as NYCOM. ...more
