On Nov. 29, NYIT Nanjing School of Management hosted its 2nd Annual Business Advisory Board meeting at the NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT. The board meeting was hosted by Associate Campus Dean and Assistant Dean of School of Management – Keh Kwek, and attended by board members including H.E. Mr. Borislav Maric, Bosnia and Herzegonia Ambassador to P.R. of China, Mr. Marko Karkkainen, Sales and Marketing Director of Hyva Mechanics, Co. Ltd., Professor Liu Li and Professor Sun Jianmin of NUPT, Professor Jim Nolt, Professor Amanda Han, Professor Qadir Mohuiddin and Professor Zhao Chen of NYIT Nanjing, and alumni Mr. Jason Xu and Ms. Salize Wu. Honorary Board Member – Monique Taylor, NYIT Nanjing Campus Dean and Executive Director, and Tony Lei, Director of Career Services and Alumni Relations also attended the meeting.
Kwek welcomed all the board members and guests and presented a highlight on NYIT and SoM Nanjing; SoM mission and programmatic learning goals; BSBA – International Business curriculum, degree map and master syllabi; and status update on AACSB accreditation and China Ministry of Education application. He also reported to the board all the events and activities that were accomplished in the AY 2012-2013 and the plan for AY 2013-2014. Mohiuddin (Professional Enrichment), Han (Experiential Education) and Nolt (Student Advancement), each reported to the board their respective program - activities and events that were completed last AY and the plan for this AY.
In the last part of the meeting, the board members provided their feedback and comments and discussed issues of specific importance to SoM and the board – internships and employment opportunities, employment challenges faced by the board members, and other professional development activities that are important in the local business environment that should be introduced in SoM.
