Nanjing, China (Oct. 28, 2011)—Through the collaboration of administrators at NUPT and NYIT-Nanjing, Timothy Smith, Ph.D., assistant dean of arts and sciences, presented a classroom lecture on American- style education to more than 100 attendees on Thursday, Oct. 27.
“The purpose was to introduce American-style education to our colleagues and to share thoughts and information on teaching and educational styles across various cultural traditions and contexts,” said Smith.
The lecture included an illustrative teaching event, “Tea with Kongzi and Aristotle: A Comparative Study on Early Western and Sino Influences,” followed by a panel discussion with administrators from NYIT and NUPT.
“It really was a positive step in our cross-cultural understanding and goodwill, and I hope further efforts of this kind will grow from it,” Smith added.
