Marshall D. Willman, assistant professor of English, NYIT-Nanjing, was a guest lecturer at Fudan University in Shanghai, China on Nov. 12, 2010. His presentation, "Daoism and Scientific Method: A Case Study on Gut Feelings," can be found online.
On Oct. 12, the opening ceremony for the Nanjing campus welcomed nearly 340 incoming students and marked the fourth anniversary of the campus opening.
NYIT and the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT) will be hosting the "Crossing Borders: Traveling, Teaching, and Learning in a Global Age," conference between April 16-17, 2011 in Nanjing. The conference explores a variety of topics that touch upon the "crossing borders" theme, including teaching online vs. traditional courses, ESL courses, teaching abroad, and translations, multilingualism, texting/IM and cyberculture. The popular event was held on the campus of the Nanjing University of Posts & Telecommunications was also open to university students outside of NYIT and NUPT this year.
Wang Xiaoying, a student at NYIT-Nanjing, took second place in the "Outlook English Talent Competition" sponsored by CCTV (China Central Television), the major state broadcaster in Mainland China. Click title for more details.
Here’s the bad news--the U.S. economy is shaky, but the good news is that NYIT’s graduates are moving on to some very exciting things. Here's some dish from a few of our recent graduates from NYIT-Nanjing who completed their studies in New York.
As a 21st Century global university, NYIT is focused on student, faculty and staff exchanges between its six campuses. This coming fall eight NYIT students in New York are headed to our campus in Nanjing, and the New York campus will welcome 61 of our students from Nanjing. In addition, the New York campuses will host four students from our Amman, Jordan campus, four from our Manama, Bahrain campus and three students from our campus in Vancouver, Canada.
James H. Nolt, Ph.D. was recently awarded the "May First Labor Honorary Medal" by the Jiangsu Provincial Trade Union Federation in recognition of his work as campus dean at New York Institute of Technology’s (NYIT) campus in Nanjing, China.
