SoM and Cultural Center Organize Panel on Ethics NYIT​-Nanjing’s School of Management (SoM) Professional Development Program and the NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT presented a panel discussion this week entitled, "Ethics in the Workplace and in Business." The SoM’s Professional Development program prepares an activity every semester where students can enrich their perspective and reinforce their knowledge. Sixty students attended the panel discussion.

University Presidents Welcome Class of 2018

President Guiliano

President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., with his counterpart President Yang Zhen of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT), welcomed 238 first-year students to NYIT-Nanjing at NUPT. Students at NYIT-Nanjing earn bachelor’s degrees from both NYIT and NUPT, and they spend their final year at an NYIT campus in New York.

NYIT Cultural Center Announces Grant, New Programming

students at cultural center NYIT-Nanjing’s American cultural center, established in 2011 to promote intercultural understanding, has received a $50,000 grant from the U.S. State Department to sponsor cultural programming during 2014-15. Beverly Butcher, Ph.D., associate professor and English department chair, and director of the NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT, announced the good news while sharing plans for this year’s events, which will surround the theme “Folk Arts in New York State.”

NYIT-Nanjing and NUPT’s College of Overseas Education hosted leaders from both universities and special guest Mr. Mark Tesone, Acting U.S. Consul General in Shanghai, at a lovely commencement ceremony this morning. With the backdrop of the NYIT-Peking University EcoPartnership and last month’s jointly organized conference in Beijing on “The Water-Energy Nexus: Sustainability and Global Challenges,” NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., (pictured, center, with EcoPartneship leaders) sat for an in-depth interview with Shao Haipeng for China’s prestigious First Financial Daily. President Guiliano discussed China’s social development relating to technology, resources, and public policy. In addition to First Financial Daily, several mainstream Chinese outlets, including Entrepreneur's Daily, Sina Finance, Guangdong Securities, and Fangzhen Securities, have published the president's thoughts. Cultural Center Introduces Louisiana Cajun Music, Culture to Chinese Students

Chinese students played their traditional musical instruments in a spontaneous “jam session” with a group of visiting Cajun musicians at NYIT-Nanjing last week. The NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT, one of 17 American Culture Centers in China which seek to foster intercultural communication, hosted a group of visitors from Louisiana for a series of meetings with students.
