Student Assistants Wanted at NYIT-Vancouver for Spring 2012
STUDENT ASSISTANT – ACTIVITIES & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
DUTIES:
The Student Assistant- Activities & Professional Development organizes professional and social events for the NYIT MBA program in Vancouver and will be responsible for the following:

Orienting new students to Vancouver and NYIT.

Organizing social, cultural, and professional development activities.
-
Liaising with the career coordinator.
-
Ensuring that student activities are posted on bulletin boards and emailed on a timely basis.
-
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Completion of one semester of the NYIT MBA program in Vancouver.
-
Must be a registered NYIT student in good academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or higher).
-
Must be available to work flexible hours and occasionally on evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
-
Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
-
Knowledge of computers (word processing, internet, and powerpoint).
-
Experience in organizing events, would be an advantage.
DURATION & COMPENSATION:
-
Estimated between 60-120 hours per semester @ $12 per hour between January 21, 2012 and April 27, 2012.
SUPERVISION:
The Student Assistant- Activities and Professional Development reports to the Associate Dean.
STUDENT ASSISTANT – RECRUITMENT & FACILITIES
DUTIES:
The Student Assistant-Recruitment & Facilities provides support and a student perspective for the NYIT MBA program in Vancouver and will be responsible for the following recruitment, marketing and facilities support:

Setting up NYIT booths at various educational fairs in the Greater Vancouver Area.

Providing program information to the visitors in the education fair, by sharing his/her own educational experience at NYIT Vancouver.

Assisting in answering general student inquiries.
-
Assisting students with information about student life in Vancouver.
-
Ensuring campus furniture is neat, tidy and in its proper place.
-
Reporting all damaged furniture and facilities.
-
Ensuring all student computers, printers and photocopiers are operational.
-
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Completion of one semester of the NYIT MBA program in Vancouver.

Must be a registered NYIT student in good academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or higher).

Must be available to work flexible hours and occasionally on evenings and weekends.

Must possess comprehensive knowledge of the MBA program and resources available at the NYIT Vancouver campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple student enquiries at the fairs.

Experience with event planning and executing.
-
Knowledge of computers (word processing, internet, and database).
DURATION & COMPENSATION:
-
Estimated 120 hours per semester @ $12 per hour between January 21, 2012 and April 27, 2012. (These hours include travelling to and participation in education fairs and related events)
SUPERVISION:
The Student Assistant-Recruitment reports to the Associate Director for Global Recruitment and the *Campus Dean for facilities functions. Training, support and assistance will be provided.
