High school and college students are invited to attend the Leadership Summit and Sports/Education Symposium, part of the 2013 Big Apple Classic, sponsored by NYIT.

The Leadership Summit features sessions addressing a variety of timely topics for students as they consider college and career options.

Financial Literacy, Engineering & Health Professions, and Entrepreneurship: 1:30 p.m.

Presented by Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D., Dean of NYIT’s School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, and Patricia Chute, Ed.D., Dean  of NYIT’s School of Health Professions, this session will provide an introduction to engineering and health professions, various career paths and how students can pursue them, as well as highlight the global demand for graduates in these fields. It will also discuss how engineers and health professionals work together.

Sustainability and Going Green: 3 p.m.

Go green in your education and you will be sought after for jobs in various industries, including organic food, alternative power, construction, and education and training. Dean Anid will discuss how the  green industry seeks to meet the demands of today and tomorrow, what “green job” opportunities are available, and how attendees can be successful in this field. 

The Leadership Summit, to be held at The New York Times Building, is open to high school and college students at no cost.
