Faculty - Getting the library on your radar

Aug 20 2010

As we move our hand back towards the throttle and gear down for another exciting year at NYIT, the library would like to place a few items on your information radar.

First and foremost, the library Url to be included in all course syllabi and bookmarked in your Web browser is www.nyit.edu/library. From this website, BearCat, the library’s catalog is available, as well as a complete list of subscribed-to databases and indexes, as well as the ever popular NYIT Journal Locator, an index to 1000s of full text journals, magazines and newspapers.

The library also provides access to RefWorks, the electronic citation manager. Whether you are conducting your own research, providing reading lists to your students, or encouraging a student to begin a research portfolio which they will develop over the course of an academic career, the RefWorks link will take you to a page where creating a free individual account is possible.

Finally, if there are any items (books, dvds, etc.) which you would like acquired to support your discussions and classroom projects, you need only visit your local campus library or fill in the Recommend a Purchase form. The NYIT libraries continue to thrive as one of the central learning spaces here at NYIT, and your contributions make this possible.
