BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 20, 2010) - NYIT women's basketball fell 79-68 on the road at Concordia College (N.Y.) Saturday afternoon. Junior Cierra Baker (Windsor, Conn.) led the game with 27 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for the Bears, who dropped to 1-2 on the season. The win was the Clippers (1-3) first of the year.
Fellow junior Denise Crawford (Roosevelt, N.Y.) added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Bears, while dishing out a game-high three assists. For the Clippers, Shelley Monahan posted 22 points and Chanessa Blakemore grabbed a game-high 21 boards while registering 10 points.
The Bears trailed 39-27 at the half after shooting only 17.9% from the field. In the second half, NYIT rallied for 41 points on 37.8% shooting from the field and 33.3% from behind the arc. For the game, the Clippers outshot NYIT 41.5% to 27.6%, and out-rebounded the Bears 56 to 45.
NYIT returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 1 against St. Thomas Aquinas in the 2010-2011 East Coast Conference opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Recreation Hall.
