SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (April 2, 2011) – NYIT women’s basketball joined forces with former NBA player Shelton Jones for his foundation’s Black Heritage Basketball Tournament on Saturday, Apr. 2 in Southampton, N.Y.
“This was a win-win for us all,” said head coach Anthony Crocitto. “It was fun helping Shelton raise funds for youths through his programming. Out athletes were amazing and did whatever they needed to do in helping the day run smooth.”
The Foundation trains and mentors student-athletes to become successful in life through sports, community outreach and personal development. The Bears and coaches helped with concessions, at the scorer’s tables, selling raffle tickets and working the admission table. In addition, Director of Athletics Clyde Doughty, Jr. served as a keynote speaker.
