Valdez, Perez Named to GWC All-Tournament Team

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 28, 2011) –  NYIT’s Effrey Valdez (Flushing, N.Y.) and Marcos Perez (Bronx, N.Y.) brought the 2011 season to a close earning Great West Conference All-Tournament team honors.

Valdez helped the Bears to a 2-2 week at the GWC Tournament, hosted by the University of North Dakota. He batted .429 with three runs and a double. Valdez scored the game-winning run in the Bear’s 4-3 extra inning victory over Northern Colorado.
 
Perez pitched a complete game gem over NJIT in the tournament opener. He surrendered just two runs on three hits, walked six and struck out seven.
 
NYIT ended the season with a 19-32 overall record and a fourth place GWC finish.
