OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Jan. 4, 2012) - Led by junior Kayvon Roberts' (Corona, N.Y.) 17 points, the NYIT men's basketball team evened to 1-1 in East Coast Conference play with a 74-56 win over Mercy Wednesday night at Recreation Hall. The Bears improved to 4-7 on the season with the victory while the Mavericks dropped to 1-11 overall and 0-3 in league play.

The beginning of the first half was closely played as the score was knotted 9-9 with 13:13 to play.
