CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2011) – Sophomore Kayvon Roberts (Corona, N.Y.) was recognized as the East Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday.

 

Roberts helped NYIT to a 1-1 week that included an overtime victory over Queens College. For the week he nearly averaged a double-double with 19.0 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game. He shot 50% from the field (13-for-26) and behind the arc (1-for-2), while producing a 73.3 FT%. He also dished out nine assists.

 

In the Bears’ victory over Queens, Roberts compiled his first career double-double with a team-best 22 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. He also dished out four assists. In NYIT’s loss at C.W. Post, Roberts poured in 16 points, while grabbing six boards and five assists.

 

On the season, the 6-foot-5 guard/forward leads the team with 14.0 points per game. He’s also first on the team with 12 blocks.

 

NYIT returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 16 when it hosts Bridgeport in ECC PinkZone action. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at Recreation Hall.
