Rebecca Lynch Named ECC Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 20, 2012) - NYIT women's basketball guard Rebecca Lynch (Hillsdale, N.J.) was named the East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by the league office. Lynch is the third Bear to receive ECC Player of the Week honors this season.
Despite a tough 0-2 week faced by the Bears, Lynch averaged 18 points per game and shot a team-best 48.6% from the field, with three assists, two blocks and 14 steals. Against STAC, she compiled her first career triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. At Dowling, she led the Bears with 22 points, shooting 57% from the field and grabbing four steals.
NYIT returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 22 on the road at Queens (N.Y.). Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Flushing, N.Y.
