Peacock, Constantatos Named ECC Scholar-Athletes

CENTRAL ISLIP (June 6, 2011) - The East Coast Conference announced the 2010-2011 Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as well as the Scholar-Athletes of the Year for all of its sponsored sports at the ECC Awards Dinner on May 25. Lisa Peacock (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) of NYIT's volleyball team and Nicole Constantatos (East Northport, N.Y.) of the softball team were named Scholar-Athletes of the Year for their respective sports.

Carrying a 3.56 grade-point average in interdisciplinary studies, Peacock scooped up double-digit digs on 26 occasions, including four matches where she tallied over 25. The two-time ECC Liber of the Year anchored the NYIT defense this season, and was named to the AVCA All‐East Region Team, as well as the Daktronics All‐Region Second Team.

The ECC recognized two Softball Scholar‐Athletes of the Year. First, finshing with an undergraduate GPA of 3.71 and a perfect 4.0 in her Masters in Child Education, Constantatos drove in 6 runs on 13 hits this season and crossed the plate six times. She was co-honored with Sarah Kiser from C.W. Post, who carried a 3.9 GPA as a nutrition major. 
 
Vladimir Milosavljevic of the Dowling College men’s soccer team was named the Male Scholar‐Athlete of the Year and Rachael Goldstein of the Dowling College women’s lacrosse team took home the Female Scholar‐Athlete of the Year. Milosavljevic, who boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as an Accounting and Finance major, helped the Golden Lions advance to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history. With a nearly perfect 3.97 GPA in Psychology, Goldstein recorded a .481 save percentage and made double-digit stops in six games this season. A four time ECC Defensive Player of the Week recipient she helped her team advance to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse tournament for the first time in school history.
