BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 1, 2012) – NYIT men’s basketball fell to C.W. Post 88-69 Wednesday night despite strong contribution from the Bears freshmen class. NYIT record is now 7-11 and 4-5 in East Coast Conference play.
NYIT started the game strong and was led byjunior Azel Prather, Jr (Glenarden, Md.), who scored his first shot by knocking down a three giving the Bears the first lead of the game. That was followed by made jumpers by Dominic Scurry (Ozone Park, N.Y.) and Will Udoh (Laurel, Md.) that gave the Bears a 7-2 lead.
However, C.W. Post stormed back and, after a couple of quick turnovers by NYIT, C.W. Post managed to claim an 11-9 lead. The Pioneers lead steadily increased throughout the half, ending with a 46-29 edge at halftime.
The Pioneers kept the momentum in the second half and kept a comfortable double digit lead on their way to an 88-69 win.
Freshmen Jahleel Felix (Flushing,N.Y.), Nick Fessenden (Greenlawn, N.Y ) and Udoh each contributed well for the Bears. Felix and Fessenden each scored 12 points and Udoh lead the team in rebounding with six rebounds.
NYIT men’s basketball returns to action this Saturday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m., when they travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. to play Mercy College.
