Knights Spoil Bears Softball Senior Day

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Apr.26, 2011) – NYIT softball was unable to get things going on senior day as they fell to Queens College 8-0.

With the win Queens improved to 21-22 on the season with a 10-13 conference record. NYIT falls to 5-31 on the year with a 2-21 ECC record.

The Knights wasted no time getting started as they scored two runs in the top of the first to jump out on top. Kaitlyn Crowley was walked with the bases loaded to drive in a run and make it 2-0 Queens.

In the third inning Queens would rally again, Melissa Natale hit a double in the left center gap to drive in two more runs for Queens which made it 5-0. The following inning in the fourth Crowley stepped up with runners on second and third. She delivered a single up the middle to drive both runners in. This made it an 8-0 game, which is how it ended.

On the mound for the Knights Bryttne Santana earned her 11th win of the season. She allowed only one hit while striking out seven.

For the Bears, Senior Brigette Kirschmer (Aurora, Colo.) recorded the teams only hit of the game with a single in the fourth inning.  Junior Natasha Milosevich (Torrance, Calif.) threw a complete game for the Bears. She allowed eight runs in the game but only two were earned due to poor defense behind her.
