Jerrell Walker Named ECC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 29, 2010) – NYIT senior men’s basketball forward Jerrell Walker (Stockton, Calif.) was named the East Coast Conference’s Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday. Walker helped the Bears to a 71-70 come-from-behind victory of Wilmington College last weekend.
Jerrell Walker Named ECC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 29, 2010) – NYIT senior men’s basketball forward Jerrell Walker (Stockton, Calif.) was named the East Coast Conference’s Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday. Walker helped the Bears to a 71-70 come-from-behind victory of Wilmington College last weekend.
The Stockton, Calif., native compiled his first double-double of the season with a game-high 19 points and game-high 10 rebounds as NYIT picked up its first win of the season. Walker shot 61.5% from the field (8-13) in the victory.
Just three weeks into the season, the Bears are tied for first in the league with a 1-1 overall record. Walker averages a team-best 16.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. He is also shooting a team-best 66.7% from the field.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 1 in ECC opening action against the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Recreation Hall.
