Hempstead, NY (April 6, 2010) - Hofstra senior Ethan Paquette hit a grand slam and a three-run shot in setting a school-record with nine RBIs to lead Hofstra to a 22-11 slugfest victory over NYIT on Tuesday afternoon at University Field.
Hofstra responded to a three-run New York Tech first inning by scoring five runs on just one hit on the bottom half. The Pride tagged Bears starter Steve Faulkner for five runs before the southpaw was lifted without retiring a batter.
The affair was high-scoring from the start and sophomore Sebastian Grazziani's two-run home run tied the score at 8-8 in the third inning.
But the Pride's bats stayed hot,and Hofstra pulled away by surging to an eight-run fifth inning. Freshman Matt Watkins contributed with an RBI single and Paquette hit his three-run home run to cap the rally.
