OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2010) - Former NYIT men's basketball star Bryan Lassiter (B.S. '09) was chosen to represent the United States on a team that will play a series of games in China. He is joined by former C.W. Post standout Jonathan Schmidt. It has yet to be announced when the games will be held. 

 

Lassiter played the 2010 season with the Athleticos de San German team in Puerto Rico. He appeared in 20 games and averaged 37 percent from the field. The Bay Shore, N.Y., native was second on the team with an 87.5% free throw percentage. 

 

Lassiter, who played at NYIT from 2005 to 2009, helped the Bears to their first-ever East Coast Conference regular-season title in the 2008-2009 season. He is NYIT's career all-time leader with 1,913 points and a 81.2 free throw percentage. He is also second all-time with 216 steals and 232 3FGs made, and fifth all-time with 380 assists.

 

The Bears open their 2010-2011 season on Saturday, Nov. 20 against the Golden Falcons of Felician College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Recreation Hall.
