Bears Volunteer with Toys for Tots
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Dec. 13, 2010) – On Saturday, Dec. 11, the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), held its annual Toys for Tots game against Bridgeport.
Bears Volunteer with Toys for Tots
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Dec. 13, 2010) – On Saturday, Dec. 11, the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), held its annual Toys for Tots game against Bridgeport.
Fans were asked in lieu of admission to bring a new and unwrapped toy to help bring some holiday cheer to needy children this season. The Toys for Tots organization, sponsored by the Marine Corps Reserve, has been actively involved in the distribution of toys for needy children each holiday season since 1948.
NYIT’s women’s basketball student-athletes and staff participated by bringing in a variety of toys like puzzles, toy cars, coloring books and jump ropes to name a few.
The women’s basketball team continues its holiday community outreach this Friday, Dec. 17 as the Bears volunteer with Christmas Magic at its “Every Childs Dream Party” at Prince of Peace School in Sayville, N.Y.
