Old Westbury, N.Y. (Apr.16, 2011) – NYIT Softball was outmatched on Saturday in a doubleheader against C.W. Post.
The Bears never stood a chance in game one, the Pioneers bats were on fire in the 23-0 win while recording 19 hits. Game two was much of the same; NYIT was unable to cool off the C.W. Post offense as they went off for 11 more runs. The Bears offense could not come to life as the dropped game two by the score 11-2.
The Pioneers were led by Carly Chamberlain and Kendell Bright offensively. Chamerblain went a combined 7-for-10 with five runs scored and three RBI. Bright was 5-for-8 and recorded eight RBI on the day.
C.W. Post improved to 26-8 on the season and 12-4 in ECC play with the sweep on Saturday. NYIT falls to 4-25 overall with a 1-15 ECC record.
Game 1 – C.W. Post 23, NYIT 0
C.W. Post scored early and often in game one of the doubleheader on their way to a 23-0 blowout win.
Kendell Bright went 3-for-5 in the game with three doubles. Her doubles in the second and fifth inning each drove in two runs on her way to a 5 RBI game. Kerry Fisher has a big game as well going 3-for-3 scoring three runs with two RBI.
Melina Trujillo (Tucson, Ariz.) had the only hit on the game for the Bears. She singled to right field in the first inning and that would be all for the offense.
Junior Natasha Milosevich (Torrance, Calif.) started for NYIT and lasted only 1.1 innings as she was roughed up for 10 runs in the loss.
Christina Beradi earned the win for the Pioneers as she allowed only one hit in her three innings of work. Linda Amarante threw two innings of scoreless relief to finish off the game.
Game 2 – C.W. Post 11, NYIT 2
The Pioneers scored five runs in the first inning to show their offense still had plenty left on their way to completing the sweep with an 11-2 victory.
Nicole Fierro capped off the five run first with a bases clearing triple to drive in three runs. Carly Chamberlin went 4-for-4 scoring three runs with one RBI. Kendell Bright was at it again in the fifth inning. Her double drove in three runs to make it an 11-2 game which is how it ended.
For the Bears, Natasha Milosevich was a bright spot for the offense. She went 2-for-2 with a walk in game two of the doubleheader. Senior Martha Redondo (Tucson, Ariz.) had the only other hit for NYIT. That came in the second inning when she singled to left field to drive home Graduate Nicole Constantatos (East Northport, N.Y.).
On the mound for the Pioneers Sarah Kiser and Hayley Bettles combined to keep the Bears offense quiet. They allow just three hits and two runs on the game with Kiser earning the win.

NYIT will play next on Sunday, Apr. 17 against Bridgeport at the NYIT Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
