Baker Receives All-East Region Honors

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 10, 2011) – NYIT women's basketball guard/forward Cierra Baker (Windsor, Conn.) received her second seasonal honor as she was named a Daktronics Inc. All-East Region second team honoree, as voted by the region’s Division II sports information directors.

Baker earned All-East Coast Conference first team honors after leading the conference in rebounding and steals. She ranked in the top-15 in three additional categories – scoring, field goal percentage and free throw percentage.

The junior led NYIT in points per game (17.5), rebounding (12.4), blocks (12), field goal percentage (.411) and free throw percentage (.757). She registered 19 double-doubles, along with a triple-double in Feb. 23’s victory over Mercy College. As of March 9, Baker also ranks fourth in the nation in rebounds per game.
