The journalists—who were in town as part of a 7-day visit under the auspices of the Korea Press Foundation—were welcomed by Maryann Skinner, director of editorial administration for Newsday, and John Hanc, associate professor of communication arts at NYIT-Old Westbury, who is a also a long-time contributor to the newspaper.

After an orientation and overview of Newsday from past to present, the journalists attended a daily editorial meeting, met top editors of the paper, and visited Newsday's digital operations, which was a particular emphasis of the trip.
