Dan Quigley, associate professor, English and associate dean, CAS recently had his blog post Of Pomodoros and Pastimes: Why I Have Started Writing at the Racetrack added to the Chronicle of Higher Ed's site. Guest author Quigley explains how taking his iPad to the racetrack frees him to concentrate on his writing better than any digital timer could.
Jacqueline Taylor Basker, Ph.D., chairperson of the department of fine arts and computer graphics at NYIT-Amman, participated in the June 2011 Cairo Biennale, exhibited her painting "Gaza Light" and showed her film Aftermath: 9/11 and NY Artists. Read more.

Sumiao Li, assistant professor at NYIT, Nanjing Campus, will be presenting her research "The 'Supergirl' and the 'City Jade Man:' Gender-Neutral Aesthetics in Contemporary China and its Challenges for Transnational Feminism" this Friday, October 28 at 1:00pm at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Kevin LaGrandeur, Ph.D., (website: http://iris.nyit.edu/~klagrand), associate professor of english and director of NYIT's technical writing programs, gave a paper titled "Aristotle and the Ancient Roots of the Posthuman" at the First Global Conference on Transforming Human Nature in Science, Technology and the Arts, at Dublin City College, in Dublin, Ireland, on Oct. 22. The conference was co-sponsored by NYIT’s College of Arts, Sciences, and Communication, and was organized by Professors Tom Philbeck and Curtis Carbonell, from the NYIT Bahrain Campus. Yuko Oda, assistant professor, Fine Arts will be speaking as one of four plenary speakers at “My Digital Life @ The Speed of Light”, the 2011 International Symposium on Democracy at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. The two day symposium will be held on September 20-21, 2011, and will focus on technology; leading figures in the global technology and Internet worlds are invited on campus to present and lead discussions in this important topic. This symposium is a signature event at Westminster College, highlighting the college identity in liberal education, leader development, and global engagement. Read more.
