“Urban Planning or Gentrification Methods? Land Readjustment, Urban Redevelopment and Civil Society in the Context of São Paulo”
Felipe Francisco De Souza is an architect and urban planner, graduated at the Estate University of São Paulo, master in government and public administration and PhD candidate in urban engineering at the University of Tokyo. Former project manager from the Municipal Government of São Paulo, he has also cooperated with several international cooperation agencies, such as JICA, SIDA, IHS, SVID and World Bank. Author of several articles and three books, “Land Readjustment and Joint Urban Operations” (2007), “Methods of Urban Planning: Land Readjustment and Urban Redevelopment Projects” (2009) and “The Battle for São Paulo City Center” (2011), his current research project compares the role of government, civil society organizations and real state companies in managing urban redevelopment projects located at Tokyo and São Paulo city center.
