Meet The Filmmakers: Hoop Dreams in Iran

Wednesday, April 02, 2014 | 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

See this special screening of the critically-acclaimed documentary, The Iran Job, that follows basketball player Kevin Sheppard as he is contracted to play professional basketball in Iran at the height of the Arab Spring. The film provides a sharply-focused lens on a country living under the thumb of a dictator and mired in political and religious turmoil as young progressives protest their government, to no avail. Sheppard doesn’t speak the language and is overcome by culture shock, yet struggles to lead a rag-tag basketball team to victory.
Conversation follows with director Till Schauder and producer Sara Nodjoumi.
