Women's Basketball Moves to No. 17 in WBCA Poll

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2013) - For the fourth straight week the NYIT women's basketball team has climbed its way up the USA Today/WBCA Coaches' Top 25 Poll and this week reached a No. 17 national ranking, it was announced Tuesday  by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

The Bears move up from a No. 19 ranking last week after producing a 3-0 week that included victories over Mercy, Bridgeport, and St. Thomas Aquinas. NYIT is tied for first place in the East Coast Conference with No. 15 Dowling. The two teams will battle for the ECC regular-season title on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m at Recreation Hall in Old Westbury, N.Y. The Bears will also find out where they stand in the region on Wednesday when the first NCAA regional rankings are released.
