Volleyball Rallies for 3-1 Win Over Dowling in NCAA First Round

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Dec. 5, 2013) - Senior Shelby Cable (DeSoto, Mo.) led the match with 19 kills and 23 digs to lift the third-seeded NYIT volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over sixth-seeded Dowling in the first round of the NCAA Division II East Regional Thursday afternoon. The final set scores were 18-25, 25-17, 34-32, and 25-22.

With the win, the Bears improved to 27-6 on the season and advance to the East Regional Semifinals for the third time in program history. NYIT will face the winner of  No. 2 LIU Post/No. 7 Franklin Pierce on Friday, Dec. 6. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Hubbell Gymnasium in Bridgeport, Conn.
