NYIT Salutes Women with the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

New York, N.Y. (March 18, 2011) – Female faculty at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) will join the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum to educate and celebrate women’s contribution to society and the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

NYIT’s female faculty will present three sessions at “Girls in Science and Engineering Day” for high school females. Students will learn how to prepare for a medical emergency with a robotic patient, see how robots can search, sort, and climb stairs, and observe how an aquifer stores and releases groundwater. The sessions will be held on Sunday, March 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Intrepid Museum. Other presentations will be given by Rutgers University, Iridescent, New York City Center for Space Science Education (NYCCSSE), and Con Edison.

NYIT and Con Edison are also supporting the Youth Leadership Conference on Tuesday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in which distinguished women from both organizations will serve as mentors to more than 150 students from high schools in New York City at the Intrepid Museum.
