NYIT President Speaks to New Grads at Alma Mater Stony Brook University

Stony Brook, N.Y. (May 25, 2011) – Studying the humanities gives students the ability to learn and appreciate the ideas of others, NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., told English majors during the departmental convocation at Stony Brook University’s commencement on May 25.

An alumnus of Stony Brook University, President Guiliano congratulated the Class of 2011 on making a terrific investment in themselves.

He told students that their education has given them an understanding of the links that bind ideas and people. “The arts, humanities, and sciences will help you help others,” he said. “Start by turning challenges into opportunities. Participate…debate…listen…act.”
