NYIT President Guiliano Visits Taiwan to Discuss American Higher Education

Taichung, Taiwan (Oct. 14, 2011) – NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., traveled to Taiwan to address students at National Taichung University of Education today, as he builds on the success of a recent presentation to the World University Presidents Forum in China.

“This is an exciting time to be in Asia, and in Taiwan in particular,” President Guiliano told an enthusiastic crowd of faculty and students. “I’ve been eager for an exchange of ideas and outlooks.”

During his lecture on the American educational model, President Guiliano discussed the evolution of higher education in the United States, along with its role in the technology revolution currently sweeping the globe.

"We are preparing students for careers that do not yet exist- technology is bringing wonders into our lives, disrupting industries, and reshaping our world," he stated. "And in the global university we will be at the forefront of these advances."

President Guiliano spoke at the World University Presidents Forum in August, in an address he called “Globalism and Higher Education: Modeling the 21st Century.” There, he urged more than 160 leaders in higher education worldwide to help create international “idea centers” in partnership with business and government. He also shared examples of how the NYIT community has worked to meet the challenges of the global market through “a robust exchange of knowledge.”
