NYIT Names David Ochoa Director of Development and Government Liaison for NYCOM

 Old Westbury, N.Y.(February 11, 2010) -New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) announced the appointment of David Ochoa as director of development and government liaison of its College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM). In this role, he will lead foundation, corporate, and legislative outreach for philanthropic support.
“David’s significant experience provides a strong foundation from which to build new partnerships and capitalize on opportunities that will facilitate the continued expansion and visibility of our osteopathic medical school,” said Thomas Scandalis, D.O., dean of NYCOM.
Ochoa brings more than 20 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector, including positions as vice president for development, public relations, and academic services at several U.S. universities, and lead development consultant for a Long Island, N.Y.-based hospital. In those roles, he successfully implemented multimillion-dollar capital campaigns and worked with legislators in Albany, N.Y., and Washington, D.C. He is the founder and former senior managing partner of Nu Alliance, LLC (Holbrook, N.Y.), an investment firm specializing in high-technology and energy companies. He has also served as president and founding board member of Money Mex USA Inc. (Calif.) and chief executive officer of Buena Vision Cable Company (Calif.). 
Ochoa earned his bachelor’s degree from Whittier College (Calif.) and a Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law. He was awarded a Latin America Teaching Fellowship from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University (Mass.), with assignments at Catholic University School of Law in Lima, Peru, and as a Legal Fellow in Mexico City. He is a member of the Association of Fund Raising Executives and New York State’s Asset Maximization Commission.
