NYIT Men's and Women's Tennis Win Regionals and Advance to Round of 16

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (April 29, 2013) - The NYIT men's and women's tennis teams have achieved another program first this week as the Bears advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament Round of 16, held in Surprise, Ariz.

On Sunday, the women, ranked No. 15 nationally and first in the region, defeated Chestnut Hill 5-0. The Bears will face Hawaii-Pacific in the round of 16 on Wednesday, May 8 at 1 p.m.

On Monday, the men, ranked second in the region, produced a 5-2 triumph over Merrimack. The Bears earned a 5-1 first round victory over the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. The men will take on Armstrong Atlantic in the round of 16 on Wednesday, May 8 at Noon.
