NYIT Celebrates M.B.A. Graduation at JUFE

Nanchang, China (April 19, 2013) — New York Institute of Technology’s 12th graduation ceremony at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) in Nanchang honored 116 students who celebrated their new M.B.A. degrees with family, friends, and faculty.

“Today’s world is full of economic and social challenges, and historians and economists point to human capital as key to solving all of the challenges we face today and in the future,” NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., told the graduates gathered at Jiaoqiao Garden at JUFE. “The term ‘human capital’ suggests that each educated or skilled person is a precious resource, in a world greatly in need of such resources.”

Guiliano was welcomed by guests and dignitaries including Vice President Jiang Jinfa, Dean Li Liangzhi, Master of Ceremonies Zhou Mei, dean of the JUFE M.B.A. School, and Vice Dean Peng Yuan. NYIT attendees included Executive Director Monique Taylor, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Global Programs Scott Liu, Ph.D., and Tony Lei Tong (M.S. ’09), associate director of alumni and employer relations.

Graduates Gu Ningxing from Shanghai and Wan Yi from Shenzhen represented the class. Most of the class members have their own businesses or work as middle or higher-level managers for multinational enterprises.

“Business leaders in China will continue to rely upon you to help gain a greater understanding of the global business world and how to be better corporate leaders,” Guiliano said. “Our search for integrated approaches to global problems depends upon collaboration – on teams of people and clusters of ideas.”

Since 1997, NYIT has had an educational cooperation agreement with Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE), located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi province. NYIT was among the first universities to receive approval from the Ministry of Education to operate foreign degree programs in China.
