Guests gathered at Abu Dhabi’s Armed Forces Officers Club to celebrate the 18 master's degree graduates and 41 baccalaureate graduates in NYIT-Abu Dhabi’s Class of 2010.

NYIT dignitaries traveled from New York to attend the event, including President Edward Guiliano; NYIT Board of Trustees Chairperson Linda Davila; Roger Yu, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; John Hyde, dean of career services; and Joe Fortine, director of alumni relations. Special guests also included Douglas C. Greene, deputy chief of mission of the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Garon Wheeler, associate professor and assistant dean at NYIT-Abu Dhabi, opened the ceremony by leading the faculty processional. President Guiliano conferred degrees, and in his keynote speech, he told the graduates that “as a not-for-profit institution of higher learning, our rewards at NYIT are not measured in money, but rather in the creation of human capital. Our students and graduates are those rewards, so, thank you, graduates.” Following President Guiliano’s speech, graduate Hisham Nayel addressed the Class of 2010.

NYIT-Abu Dhabi’s graduation ceremony was a part of NYIT’s 49th annual commencement, encompassing its 4,000 graduates from all campuses on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the Old Westbury, N.Y. campus.  NYIT also has campuses in Bahrain, Canada, China, Jordan, and Manhattan.
