NYIT Auditorium on Broadway Debuts


Best-selling author Mireille Guiliano appears as venue's first speaker


New York, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2009) -Last week, New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) cut the ribbon on its new auditorium in Manhattan and welcomed the venue's first speaker, best-selling author Mireille Guiliano.

NYIT President Edward Guiliano and Board of Trustees Chairperson Linda Davila (B.S. '78) welcomed alumni, guests, and neighbors from the community to the opening of theNYIT Auditorium on Broadway in a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 15.

"This state-of-the-art auditorium expands NYIT's physical Manhattan campus footprint and will be invaluable to serving our students and achieving our mission to providing the ultimate New York City educational experience," said President Guiliano. The new 250-seat auditorium, at 1871 Broadway between 61st and 62nd Streets, will be used to host student events, film festivals, movie screenings, guest lecturers, and conferences.

Following the ribbon cutting, the auditorium featured its first speaker, Mireille Guiliano, wife of NYIT President Guiliano, who discussed her latest book, Women, Work & the Art of Savoir Faire.

"I am so happy and honored to be the first speaker in a wonderful space that I know will be home to many culturally rich, dynamic discussions and presentations," said Mrs. Guiliano, who signed copies of her book after the presentation.

In her latest book, she writes about helping women obtain the knowledge, know-how (savoir faire) and the tools for empowerment and balance in today's business world.

Founded in 1955, NYIT has been a longtime leader in technology-infused, professional education. It is home to numerous schools, programs, and colleges, including NYIT's New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, New York's first college of osteopathic medicine. NYIT has 15,000 students worldwide at six campuses including Manhattan, Long Island, Bahrain, China, Jordan, and Abu Dhabi.
