NYIT and Tongji University Renew Dual-Degree Collaboration

Old Westbury and New York, N.Y. (April 26, 2011) - Delegates from Tongji University in Shanghai renewed their agreement to offer double-degree programs in management with NYIT. The agreement came during a visit to NYIT’s Old Westbury and New York campuses this week.

Jiazhen Huo, dean of Tongji’s School of Economics and Management (S.E.M.), and Yuexian Shou, deputy director of the International Office, spent their day touring the New York campuses with Victoria Pfeiffer, special assistant to the president, Krzysztof Zaba, director of global and international admissions, and Nadia Agarrat, associate director of global recruitment and exchange. They also met with NYIT School of Management’s dean Jess Boronico, Ph.D, and Scott Liu, Ph.D., associate dean for global programs and executive director of the Center for International Business Studies. 

Following a lunch at the De Seversky Center hosted by Richard Pizer, Ph.D., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs for NYIT, Spencer Turkel, Ph.D., associate provost, Julie Fratrik, director of the Center for Global Academic Exchange, Maya Kroumova, Ph.D, School of Management professor, and other administrators, Hou and Shou met with first-year Tongji students currently enrolled in NYIT classes in New York. The delegates’ visit concluded with their signing a program renewal agreement with NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D.

Upon completion of NYIT’s double-degree program with Tongji University, students earn master’s degrees in either Business Administration (M.B.A) or human resources management and labor relations (M.S) from NYIT, as well as a Master of Enterprise Management degree from Tongji University. 

The program is designed for motivated students who wish to both expand their international exposure and earn an American degree.
