NYIT and NUPT Hosts Think Green Global Forum

Forum will focus on energy, education, and environmental initiatives

New York, N.Y. and Nanjing, China (April 5, 2010) – New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT) will host the first “Think Green: Energy, Education, Environmental Initiatives” forum in Nanjing, China, on April 7-9, 2010. The two-day global forum will explore challenges and solutions as well as technological and policy breakthroughs in sustainability, and will highlight educational programs positioned to drive changes in energy practices that will benefit the world at large.

The underlying green theme serves as a platform for business, government, and academic leaders to discuss challenges, opportunities, and innovations in technology, architecture, finance, and higher education against the backdrop of China, one of the fastest-growing world powers. The Think Green 2010 forum has attracted experts from leading companies, as well as distinguished government officials from the United States and China, and leaders in higher education.

“Education plays a primal role in solving our current environmental challenges,” said NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D. “Education – through its traditional role of teaching, its role of creating knowledge through research, or simply through its role of modeling solutions – is as important as government or business in today’s global discourse on thinking green and sustainability, which is why this forum will bring together leaders in all of these areas.”

Several prominent speakers will be featured, including leaders from the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Project, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and universities in the U.S. and China. The event will be held at the Sofitel Galaxy Hotel in Nanjing, China.
